Planning for Life After High School

Every OHS Junior is invited to an individual conference with their counselor. During this meeting we'll have an in-depth discussion about your progress toward graduation, individual interests, and plans for the future.

We want to make this as easy as possible! Counselors will reach out directly via email to schedule your individual conference. We'll do our best to coordinate it during your learning resource or free period so it doesn't conflict with your core classes.

Most conferences happen during the between October and February of your Junior year. This timing is intentional—it gives you enough "runway" to explore options without the immediate pressure of Senior year deadlines.

Expect to spend ~ 45 minutes with your counselor. We want to ensure that we have this dedicated block of time to focus completely on you!

That is perfectly okay. In fact, that’s exactly what this meeting is for! You don't need to have the answers; you just need to bring your questions. You are the expert on you, and we are experts at helping to put plans into action. What a great partnership!

Yes, they are very welcome—but please know it is not a requirement.  We encourage each family to decide what works best for them. We also recognize that schedules are busy. If a parent cannot attend, the counselor will still meet with the student, and we will share a summary of the next steps so everyone stays in the loop.

No!  You are welcome to schedule a meeting with your counselor whenever you have questions about scheduling classes, planning for the future, or other academic and social needs.  You can schedule an appointment with your counselor using their virtual calendars.
