Mental Health
Mental health, including social and emotional wellbeing, is central to a healthy school community. Mental health is a state in which an individual (CDC 2018; WHO 2018):
- Has positive emotions and moods with few negative emotions;
- Feels fulfillment and satisfaction with life;
- Has the ability to cope with everyday life stressors;
- Realizes their abilities; and
- Can work productively and make contributions to their community.
The Oregon School District utilizes the Wisconsin Mental Health Framework as the basis of supporting mental health of our school community. There are many benefits of a comprehensive framework, including better academic, psychosocial, and positive school climate.
